This list includes stocks with a trailing dividend yield at or above 20%. A yield this high usually comes from a company that must pass most of its income to shareholders, and it can also follow a large fall in the share price. Many of the highest-yielding companies are mortgage REITs or business development companies. These companies pay out almost all of their income. They can reduce a payment when that income falls. A trailing yield reports the last twelve months, not the next twelve months.
