I know this is one of those basic functions that you just always expect to work, but for some reason, it is not.

We have a list of 50 tickers with various columns of information. Interestingly enough, all the other data seems to come down without an issue, but some tickers of the current list cannot get the "Name" function to work. Specifically, those tickers are FG, NMRK, NSRGY, TPR. They simply say "NA" in response.

The four company tickers are listed:

    - FG - FGL Holdings
    - NMRK - Newmark Group, Inc.
    - NSRGY - Nestlé S.A.
    - TPR - Tapestry, Inc.

I thought that the company names and information was pulled from Yahoo Finance or something.

    Thanks!

    Please up-date the following symbols:

WPP -shows as Wausau Paper Corp [was de-listed] - but should be WPP which is a British company that owns advertising agencies
HUBB - name comes up NA
DWDP - this is Dow Chemical after the merger

I too have had a problem using the Name function with historical data, since stock symbols may be reissued to another company when the prior assignee goes private or is de-listed. For example, the symbol "MSCA" referred to "M.S. Carriers" back in the 90s, a trucking company before it was acquired, but now refers to "Main Street Capital", a financial company. Because I'm doing historical analysis of stocks during the 90s, I actually want the former company name to display for the symbol.

Perhaps you could enhance the Name function by adding a second, optional date parameter which allows MarketXLS to determine which name to display. For example:
    =Name("MSCA", DATEVALUE("1998-05-08"))

Or for companies that simply aren't on the exchanges anymore, like Maytag (MYG) which was acquired by Whirlpool in 2005, providing an optional date parameter would inform the function that I'm not trying to lookup the name for an invalid symbol, since it was valid back then but now returns "NA". For example:
    =Name("MYG", DATEVALUE("1998-04-03"))
