I'm running Windows 10 Pro (with the latest creators update) and O365 x64 bit office installation. After installing MarketXLS Excel crashes before opening. I just bought MarketXLS so I have the latest version. Anyone else having this issue? Help please

    Hi Ori,

Yes, Office 365 seems to be a problem with afew more users. I am working to test the install on it. I will update later today.

    Thanks

I'm having the same problem with Excel 2016 not able to start with MarketXLS using Parallels and Windows 10. I'm a new user and can not get to a spreadsheet.

    Hi Dan, Ori,

Ok, so after 2 days of debugging I think we have found a workaround. This issue is caused by Microsoft's latest build that come with Office 365

Below is the link to Microsoft's Latest builds of MS Office.
Version and build numbers of update channel releases

Microsoft has described below on how to revert to an earlier build...
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...er-version-of-office-2013-or-office-2016-clic

The one which is seems to be crashing with MarketXLS...

    upload_2017-11-14_11-13-39.png

To check your version of the Microsoft Build, go to File >> Account...

    upload_2017-11-14_11-19-48.png

Once, we know that we have this specific build we will try and revert to the previous build by running the following commands in the CMD console as an administrator. If you did not understand the sentence above its okay. Just follow the steps below...

Search for CMD (which is command console for Windows and right click on it to run as administrator)

    upload_2017-11-14_11-23-23.png

Once, you have the command prompt ...

At the command prompt, run one of the following commands:

For an Office 2013 installation in a 32-bit version of Windows:
    cd %programfiles%\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX86
For an Office 2013 installation in a 64-bit version of Windows:
    cd %programfiles%\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64
    For an Office 2016 installation:
    cd %programfiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun

Then to revert to an older build...

    Run the following command:

    For Office 2013
    officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=15.0.xxxx.yyyy

    For Office 2016
    officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.xxxx.yyyy

So, as on November 14th the following update which is just one previous to the current one seems to work fine. So, the command will look like
    officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.8528.2147

After Microsoft downloads the updates and reverts to the old version Excel will not crash after MarketXLS is installed. And then you can leave Auto updates on so you will be updated automatically with MarketXLS working fine even with the build which initially caused problems.

There have been many conversations with Microsoft on their forum about this issue (links below). But so far this one has been the best solution I could find.

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_word-mso_win10/word-2016-frequently-crashing-when-opening/89a36b3b-4795-47ba-b43e-e88b0f860f6f

    Excel 2016 Crashes

This is a temporary resolution for MarketXLS users. Feel free to raise this on Microsoft forum as well. But from MarketXLS's perspective I am happy to report that the plugin is working with all builds of MarketXLS.

    Thank You

I'm having the same problem. I just received a new Surface Pro and was installing the latest version of Office. I then installed the latest version of marketXLS and Excel would not start. If you're suggesting this is a Microsoft issue then, I may hold out a little longer to see if a future build cures the issue and then reinstall marketXLS.

I'm running Excel 2016 on a Mac with Parallels and Windows 10.1. I had the same problem of Excel not starting after installing MarketXLS. I followed revert workaround and it is now working correctly.

    This issue is now fixed.

The latest version should work fine everywhere, This workaround is no longer needed.

    Kind regards

Ankur, is there a new version beyond 8.0.07? I'm not seeing it on the version/updates page.

I started crashing last night with every Refresh All. (I have to Refresh All, otherwise MarketXLS suddenly won't refresh on it's own!) Running Excel 365 16.07.7167.2055, Windows 10 under Parallels.

Interestingly, if I use F2 to open a single cell formula for editing and hit Return, the cell updates and there's no crash. Only functions being called are Last() and PreviousClose().

I tired to open my Excel today and the problem is back. When you say the latest version should work fine everywhere and the workaround is no longer needed. My question is the lasted version of which program (excel or marketXLS)? and how do I install it so my system works?

Pretty much the same problem as above. Excel launches but frequently crashes. If I disable MarketXLS in COM add in's all is fine. Is there a newer version that fixes this? I am sunning 8.0.0.7

The latest version is posted at the same link location as it was for 8.0.0.7

Just change the URL to say 8.0.0.7 to 8.0.0.8

I have sent the same as well to you as a message here.

    Thanks
    Ankur

OK, just loaded 8.0.0.8. So far so so. Installed easily, which was a relief. So far, no crashes. Thanks.
