Fix Please Refresh, Loading, and NA
Use the exact result in an Excel cell to choose the right MarketXLS troubleshooting step.
Start with the text that appears in the cell. These results don't all mean the same thing, and repeatedly recalculating the workbook can make a connection problem harder to diagnose.

Fix Please Refresh on Windows
- Select one affected cell.
- Open the MarketXLS ribbon.
- Select Refresh Selected.
- Wait for the result before you refresh another range.
- If the cell still shows
Please Refresh, open Settings/Help > Settings > Data Subscriptions. - Confirm that the required data source is configured.
- For a QuoteMedia formula, select Test Connection.
If the connection test fails, follow Unable to Authenticate on Windows.
Fix Loading on Mac or Excel for the web
The Microsoft 365 add-in shows Loading only when a streaming formula has no previous value to display. If no value arrives, the formula can change to NA.
- Open the MarketXLS task pane.
- Sign in.
- Confirm that the status says Streaming: On.
- Test
=mxls.QM_Stream_Last("MSFT")in a blank workbook during an active US market session. - If the task pane says Streaming: Off, select Why? and copy the diagnostic result.

Investigate NA
NA is a no-value result, not one specific error. Check these causes in order:
- Confirm that the ticker still exists and hasn't been delisted or acquired.
- Confirm the exchange suffix and security type.
- Confirm that the requested date or reporting period has data.
- For options, confirm the exact contract and expiration.
- Confirm that the market or fund has published the requested value.
- Confirm that the subscription and exchange agreements cover the request.
- Test a common symbol with the same function.
If the common symbol works, the connection is probably healthy. Focus on the original symbol, contract, date, or metric.
For an option, rebuild the contract with Create and convert option symbols. If the failure is historical, confirm that the requested date was a trading day and that the contract existed on that date. QuoteMedia historical functions don't roll a weekend or holiday back to the prior session.
NA and numeric zero aren't interchangeable. A bid, ask, volume, change, or other metric can legitimately be 0. If a current add-in returns NA where you can verify that the provider value is exactly zero, report the exact function, symbol, add-in version, expected zero, and timestamp to support.
Send a useful support request
If the result continues, contact MarketXLS support and include:
- The exact formula, with any private cell references replaced
- The exact cell result
- Your add-in: Windows or Microsoft 365
- The symbol and market session
- Whether the same function works with
MSFT - The QuoteMedia connection test or Microsoft 365 Why? diagnostic
Don't send a password, full license key, or customer workbook containing private holdings.
