Fix an invalid license or sign-in problem
Separate Windows license-key errors from Microsoft 365 sign-in errors and QuoteMedia connection problems.
First, identify which system is reporting the error:
- The Windows desktop add-in uses a MarketXLS license key.
- The Microsoft 365 add-in uses your MarketXLS website sign-in.
- QuoteMedia authentication is separate from both.
Windows says Invalid license. Please check your key.
The Windows add-in shows this message when it can't find an active subscription for the entered license key. Check both possibilities:
- Copy the key from the original MarketXLS delivery email.
- Remove spaces before or after the key.
- Open MarketXLS > Settings/Help > Apply License.
- Paste the key and apply it.
- Confirm that the related subscription is active and that the most recent payment succeeded.
If a renewal failed, updating the payment method doesn't prove that the license is active again. Contact support@marketxls.com from the subscription email and ask support to verify the subscription before you repeatedly apply the key.
Capture the Apply License control with no real key visible.

Windows asks you to upgrade before applying the license
The Windows add-in checks its installed version before it applies a key. If it says:
Please upgrade to the latest version of the software to apply this license.
follow Update MarketXLS on Windows, reopen Excel, and apply the license again.
Windows says the license belonged to another machine
The add-in can report that the license was valid but associated with a different machine and has now been attached to the current computer.
- Close Excel completely.
- Reopen Excel on the current computer.
- Check License Information.
- Test a basic formula in a blank workbook.
Moving the MarketXLS license doesn't close a QuoteMedia session on the old computer. Close Excel on the old computer before you test QuoteMedia on the new one.
Microsoft 365 says Login Required
The Microsoft 365 add-in doesn't use the Windows license-key dialog.
- Open the MarketXLS (Web) task pane.
- Sign in with the email address connected to the subscription.
- Return to the workbook and recalculate the affected cell.
Capture the signed-out task pane without a real customer email.

The same sign-in problem can appear as:
Login to MarketXLS plugin to use streaming functions. Please reloginSid is empty, please try relogin- A server
403result that asks you to sign in again
Sign out, close other Excel instances, reopen one workbook, and sign in again. If the subscription still doesn't appear, confirm that you used the purchasing email address.
Don't reset QuoteMedia for a MarketXLS license error
These systems have different checks:
| Problem | Correct action |
|---|---|
| Windows MarketXLS license is invalid | Verify the key, add-in version, and active subscription. |
| Microsoft 365 reports login required | Sign in through the MarketXLS task pane. |
| Windows QuoteMedia test fails | Follow Unable to Authenticate on Windows. |
Microsoft 365 shows Streaming: Off | Follow Fix QuoteMedia real-time data. |
Resetting the Windows QuoteMedia cache doesn't reactivate a MarketXLS subscription. Reapplying a MarketXLS license doesn't close a QuoteMedia session on another computer.
