Find contracts with the Options Screener
Load option chains for selected symbols, filter the contracts, and send the results to Excel.
Use the Options Screener to compare contracts for a list of underlying symbols. It loads live option-chain data, lets you narrow the results, and sends the contracts that remain to an Excel worksheet.
Prepare the symbols
- Enter the underlying stock symbols in one Excel column.
- Select only the cells that contain symbols. Don't include the column heading, totals, or notes.
- Open Options Screener from the MarketXLS ribbon or task pane.
The Microsoft 365 screener accepts up to 40 selected symbols at a time. If you select more, it uses the first 40 valid symbols.

Load the option chains
On a Mac or in Excel for the web, the screener reads the selected cells when it opens. If you open the standalone task-pane view, select the ticker cells and then choose Load from selection.
Wait for the progress indicator to finish. The status line shows how many contracts loaded and identifies symbols for which no data was returned.
The screener needs a live-data connection. If it remains on Connecting to live data, open the MarketXLS task pane, sign in, and reopen the Options Screener. Then read Fix QuoteMedia real-time data on Mac or Excel for the web if it still doesn't connect.
Filter the contracts
Use one or more of these filters:
- Calls, puts, or both.
- In the money, at the money, or out of the money.
- Weekly or standard expirations.
- One or more loaded symbols or expiration dates.
- Minimum volume or open interest.
- Minimum and maximum strike, last price, or delta.
- Hide 0-volume to remove contracts with no reported volume.
Capture the Options Screener with calls or puts, moneyness, expiry, volume, open interest, strike, price, and delta filters visible.

You can also filter or sort individual result columns. Choose Clear filters to return to the complete loaded chain.
Send the results to Excel
- Review the visible contract count.
- In Send to, choose New sheet or Current selection.
- Choose Send to Excel.
- Wait for the confirmation message before closing the screener.
The export uses the visible, filtered, and sorted rows. If no contracts match the current filters, the screener doesn't send an empty table.
Capture a safe exported contract table with symbol, expiry, strike, type, bid, ask, volume, open interest, and Greeks visible.

If prices or Greeks are missing, confirm your plan and exchange access in Use current and historical options data.
